What’s On in Halifax in March 2026

March in Halifax is a month that feels like a reset.

Winter is still very much present, but the days are longer, patios start testing the waters, and the events calendar fills up quickly.

Across Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), there’s a real mix this month from family-friendly programming, outdoor expos, food festivals, to live music and community events.

Whether you’re entertaining kids over March Break or planning a night out, there’s plenty happening locally.

Halifax March Break 2026 (March 14–22)

March Break is the anchor week of the month. From March 14–22, 2026, venues across HRM are running special programming to keep families busy.

Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21

The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 offers interactive exhibits and family programming that make history engaging and hands-on, an easy way to combine learning with exploration.

Art Gallery of Nova Scotia – Creative Drop-In

At the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (1723 Hollis Street), drop in March 16–20 between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM to try rug hooking, stitching and weaving. Included with admission, no registration required (children must be accompanied by an adult). A calm, creative downtown option.

Halifax Public Libraries

As part of Halifax March events 2026, branches of the Halifax Public Libraries are running free programs are running free programs all week, chess tournaments, movies, puppet theatre and workshops. Some sessions require registration, so it’s worth checking ahead.

What’s on in Halifax March 2026

Discovery Centre

The Discovery Centre (1215 Lower Water Street) is featuring larger-than-life LEGO® animal sculptures from March 13–22, alongside its usual interactive science exhibits. Admission applies, with free entry for children 2 and under.

Cineplex Family Favourites

Participating Cineplex theatres are offering discounted family films March 16–20 as part of Halifax March events 2026, it’s an easy, affordable outing if you need a quieter afternoon or if the Halifax weather is not co-operating.

Hatfield Farm Family Round-Up

For something more outdoorsy, Hatfield Farm is hosting two-hour adventure sessions March 16–20, including wagon rides, zip lines, playground time and food options.


Atlantic Sports & RV Show (March 13–15)

If you’re already thinking ahead to camping season, boating or exploring Nova Scotia’s outdoors, the Atlantic Sports & RV Show runs March 13–15 at the Halifax Exhibition Centre.

It’s an all-under-one-roof showcase of RVs, boats, ATVs and outdoor adventure gear. Whether you’re serious about buying or just browsing for inspiration, it’s a solid weekend event for outdoor enthusiasts.

Night Owl 5K – Point Pleasant Park (March 21)

In its sixth year, the Night Owl 5K returns to Point Pleasant Park on March 21.

This family-friendly 5km running and walking event takes place at night, giving it a different atmosphere than your typical race. Registration is required, and it’s become a popular early-spring tradition for runners and walkers alike.


Halifax Cocktail Fest (March 28)

For something more grown-up, Halifax Cocktail Fest takes place Saturday, March 28, with two available time slots at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.

Presented by Curated Magazine, this event brings together many of Nova Scotia’s top mixologists for an evening of creative cocktails and tasting experiences. It’s a good excuse to plan a night out downtown.


Food & St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

From March 11–17, Oodles of Noodles returns to Quinpool Road, where participating restaurants create special noodle dishes throughout the week.

Mid-month also brings St. Patrick’s Day celebrations across Halifax with live music, themed menus and a lively atmosphere in pubs and restaurants throughout the city.

Live Music & Smaller Local Events

Beyond the headline events, March always includes smaller concerts, community fundraisers, theatre productions and local markets. Downtown Halifax and Dartmouth regularly feature live bands, acoustic nights and touring acts, so it’s worth checking venue listings if you enjoy live music.


Build Your Own Halifax Staycation

If travel isn’t happening this month, Halifax offers enough variety to create your own getaway. Pair a museum day with a food festival, book a local hotel with a pool, sign up for a race, or plan a night out at Cocktail Fest.
