Christmas in Halifax – must do things to see and do

Christmas in Halifax is a fun celebration for all the family. There are so many events and parades to choose from, you will be spoiled for choice. I’ve put together the top events that prove to be extremely popular. Hopefully it will help you plan your countdown to Christmas.

HALIFAX SHOPPING CENTRE TREE LIGHTING

The holiday season kicks off on Friday November 15th at 6.30pm at the Halifax Shopping Centre as they light up the spectacular Christmas tree. There will be a live performance from the Mellotones and free hot chocolate. You can find more details here.

THE CHRONICLE HERALD PARADE OF LIGHTS

Saturday November 16 2019 | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

Chronicle Herald Parade of Lights: Family Fun Canada

The Chronicle Herald Holiday Parade of Lights is the kick-off to the holiday season and attracts a huge crowd with festive floats, marching bands, dancers, and a visit from Santa Claus!

LIGHT UP BEDFORD PARADE

Sunday November 17th 2019 | 5.45PM

Another very popular event is the annual Light Up Bedford Parade which is being held this Sunday. The parade starts at 5:45pm and goes from Dewolf Park along the Bedford highway to the Bedford Place Mall.

Q104 FM will be participating in a Toy Drive and any unwrapped gifts will be picked up along the parade route. There will also be a collection for Feed Nova Scotia and food and donations will also be collected.

Don’t forget your letter to Santa! The Bedford Volunteer Fire Fighters will be collecting letters so make sure you add Santa’s Address and your kids address to the letter!

HALIFAX CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

Saturday November 23rd 2019 |6-7pm

Family Fun Canada: Halifax Tree Lighting

The 2019 Halifax Tree Lighting Ceremony is a fun family event you won’t want to miss. There’s always live family entertainment and Santa Claus will be once again making an appearance to light up the Christmas tree and fireworks will wrap up the evening. This is a FREE family event. Although it may not be one of the BIG holiday events, I have to include this one as it sounds pretty magical (as long as weather conditions comply).

CHRISTMAS EVE SLEIGH RIDE

December 24 2019 | Noon – 6.30pm

Hatfield Farm, 1840 Hammonds Plains Road
