Can you really buy a cheap property through a Nova Scotia Tax Sale?

Technically, yes, but tax sales aren’t always the bargains they appear to be.

Properties are sold as is, where is, often without access, an inspection, vacant possession or any guarantee of clear title. There may also be liens, access issues, restrictions or a six-month redemption period.

Tax sales can offer an opportunity, but proper due diligence is essential. Have a lawyer investigate the property and title before placing a bid.

⚠️A low minimum bid doesn’t always mean a cheap property

The next HRM property tax sale is on September 15.

You can view the available properties and find more information about submitting a bid using the link below:

Now it’s my turn to ask you a question: have you ever bought a property through a Nova Scotia tax sale, and if so, how did it go?

As always, reach out with any questions. I’m here to help guide you through your real estate journey.
