This community offers some great neighbourhoods to live with a cross section of housing with a range of price points and designs. You can find older homes in the original community and brand new, up and coming neighbourhoods within the Parks of West Bedford.
Private: Bedford Academy: A non-denominational co-ed private school offering pre-school to Grade 9.

A new Elementary School and High School is coming to West Bedford in 2023/2024.
Francophone: The Francophone schools are administered by Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial or CSAP. Bedford has two Francophone Schools. Ecole Beaubassin (Grades K-5) and Ecole Secondaire d’Halifax High School Grades 6-12

Bedford Basin Yacht Club and Marina BBYC is a family and community oriented yacht club with an emphasis on sailing, racing and sail training programs for juniors and adults.
BMO Centre: A four-pad arena complex offering a variety of ice programs for everyone in the community to use and enjoy.

LeBrun Recreation Centre has a skating pad as well as various programs.
Bedford Lions Pool: Located on the shores of the Bedford Basin and with stunning views, the Lions Pool has a 25 metre outdoor pool and a small leisure pool with splash features. Swimming lessons are popular here during the summer months. There’s a playground, a basketball court and boat launch.
Sandy Lake Park is a freshwater beach that has supervised swimming area during the summer months, picnic tables, public washrooms, a volleyball court and hiking trails. The area is a popular family friendly destination. The beach is located within the Kinsmen Sandy Lake Park which offers off leash dog areas.
Papermill Lake Beach Park: located on Millrun crescent in the Papermill Lake neighbourhood is a popular swimming area. This beach area is supervised during the summer and the lake is a good place to skate in winter.
Admirals Cove is a scenic hike overlooking the Basin and Halifax Harbour. You can access the park from Shore Drive and Snowy Owl Drive.
Popular Community Events:
DeWolf Park, 150 Waterfront Drive. A popular park and walkway along much of the Bedford Basin waterfront. Has a great pirate ship play structure for the little ones. Each June/July DeWolf Park hosts many of the popular Bedford Days community events, bringing residents and visitors together for a fun week of family friendly events and entertainment before the Canada Day fireworks.
The Light Up Bedford Parade is an annual parade that runs through Bedford with hot chocolate, tree lighting, carol singing and Santa. It usually takes place mid November and is a very popular event.
